Sick as a dog
I have never been so thankful for an English-speaking pharmacist in my all days.
I’m currently on a work trip in Africa and the dreaded traveller bug hit me. I’ve not had solid food in five days. Starving didn’t solve the problem, eating didn’t help. I’ve been sick as a dog since I ate those cucumbers at that the very nice fish restaurant.
Unfortunately, my school girl French didn’t enable me to describe my symptoms in French. My first attempt didn’t work so well, I got a variety of medication, none of which would clear up the underlying issue. However, my second trip to a pharmacy and meeting an English-speaking pharmacist was much more successful. She provided these yellow pills, antibiotics, which are hopefully the answer to all my problems.
I’ve ended up cancelling my maths tutor for Saturday as I have just been too ill to study.
Any advice on how to avoid being ill on a future work trip? Next one is January.
